Objective To evaluate the change of maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) treatment on left cardiac structure and function in uremia patients with echocardiography. Methods A total of 40 uremia patients were selected. Selection 40 cases of normal people as control group. The index of left cardiac structure and heart function were compared before and after treatment for one year, and compared with the control group. Results Indexes including LAD, LVIDd, LVWPD, IVSD, VE, VA, E/e", LVM, LVMI in patients with uremia were increased obviously (P<0.05). There was no significant difference changes in E/A, EF. After undergoing regular MHD, indexes including LAD, LVIDd, LVWPD, IVSD, VE, VA, E/A, E/e", LVM, LVMI were decreased and EF was improved, however there was no significant difference in all indexes between two groups(P>0.05). Conclusion Echocardiography can evaluate the change of MHD on left cardiac structure and function in uremia patients.
