Abstract:Percutaneous left atrial appendage transcatheter occlusion(PLAATO) has become a new field of interventional cardiology as a new technology, while transesophageal echocardiography plays an important role in the PLAATO of screening patients and choosing the appropriate occluder. The left atrial wall is thin and rich in blood vessels, so it is important to assess the morphological characteristics of left atrial appendage to reduce the number of occluder release recovery, shorten the operative time, avoid tissue damage effectively and reduce postoperative complications before the PLAATO. This article aims to introduce the value of transesophageal echocardiography in assessment of left atrial appendage shape in percutaneous left atrial appendage transcatheter occlusion.
