Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation of contrast-enhanced ultrasonographic(CEUS) quantitative parameter with microvessel density(MVD) in papillary thyroid carcinomas(PTC).Methods We retrospectively analyzed 36 PTCs of 33 patients, which underwent preoperative conventional ultrasound and Contrast-enhanced ultrasonography(CEUS) . Qlab software was applied to draw and analyze the nodules, then obtained quantitative parameters of CEUS from different parts. Thyroid tumors''s specimens were stained with CD31 antibodies in postoperation, and MVD was calculated based on nodules'' edge and central regions. Then the relationship between quantitative feature and the level of MVD was analyzed using SSPS 22.0 sofrware. Result:The contrast-enhancement patterns of the majority of the whole lesions was hypo-enhancement. Enhancement degree in nodal brim region was much higher than in the center region. The RT、PI、AUC and MVD of CEUS of nodal brim region were 3.24±2.10sec、7.84±2.55dB、182.63±87.83dB sec、35.09±9.61twigs/HP respectively, and higher than the nodal center region which were 2.42±1.93sec、4.01±2.36dB、89.90±54.67dB sec、15.97±6.07twigs/HP respectively, and differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). A significantly positive correlation was observed between peak intensity(PI) and the area under the curve(AUC) of CEUS and MVD in PTC nodal brim region tissues(rPI= 0.831,P=0.000、rAUC= 0. 705,P=0.000); A positive correlation was observed between PI and AUC of CEUS and MVD in PTC nodal center area tissues(rPI= 0.678,P=0.000、rAUC= 0. 684,P=0.000). Conclusion:The PI and AUC of CEUS could reflect the MVD in PTC tissues. Therefore,we can use CEUS as a noninvasive method to assess MVD in preoperative PTC tissues.
