Abstract:Objective To investigate the feasibility of pancreatic shear wave velocity(SWV) in evaluating type 2 diabetic microangiopathy. Methods Forty-seven cases of type 2 diabetic patients with microangiopathy and 68 cases of type 2 diabetic patients without microangiopathy were included in this study, and 115 health volunteers were taken as control group. The SWV value of pancreatic head, body and tail in those three groups were measured by VTQ technology and compared differences among three groups, respectively. Factors that were associated with the value of SWV of pancreatic body were also studied in type 2 diabetic patients. Results The SWV value of pancreatic head, body and tail increased in type 2 diabetic groups compared with those in the control(all P<0.01);The SWV value of pancreatic body was higher with the presence of microangiopathy in the type 2 diabetic groups(P<0.01). In type 2 diabetic patients, microangiopathy (Beta=0.208, P=0.022),age(Beta=0.265, P=0.004) and total cholesterol levels(Beta=0.223, P=0.011) were positively correlated with a high SWV value of pancreatic body. Conclusion The increased SWV in pancreatic body was related to the presence of microangiopathy. The SWV value of pancreatic body has some value in evaluating type 2 diabetic microangiopathy.
