Abstract:ABSTRACT Objective To explore the application value of ultrasound in prostatic middle lobe hyperplasia patients’ symptoms. Method 223 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients were evaluated with international prostate symptom score (IPSS),together with prostate volume(PV),intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP) and residual urine volume (RUV),which were measured by ultrasonography. They were divided into three groups according to different IPP(Group A 43 cases,IPP≥20mm,Group B 91 cases,IPP 11~19mm,Group C 89 cases,IPP≤10mm). IPSS and RUV were compared to find out whether there were significant differences in different groups. The correlation between IPP ,IPSS and RUV was analyzed as well. Results The differences between different groups of IPSS and RUV were statistically significant(P< 0. 01). In group A, IPP was moderately correlated with IPSS and RUV. IPSS and RUV were highly correlated in each group (P < 0.01). Conclusion IPP measured by ultrasound is of great clinical significance for the evaluation of urinary tract obstruction in prostatic middle lobe hyperplasia patients.
