Abstract:Purpose: To detect the value of ultrasound and Computed Tomography (CT) for diagnosis of cystic hydatidosis in the Liver. Methods: Both sonogram and CT images of 105 patients who was confirmed by operation and pathological examination were reviewed and classified as type CE 1, CE 2、CE 3a、CE 3b、CE 4 and CE 5 according to the criteria by WHO. Results: Among the 105 patients, there were 9 cases for type CE 1, 13 for type CE 2, 12 for type CE 3a, 24 for type CE 3b, 22 for type CE 4, and 25 for type CE 5. The mean maximum diameter of cyst measured by US and CT was of no statistics difference by comparing with operation (P < 0.05). Conclusion: US and CT was available to assess location, amounts and dimension of hydatids, and reflect the various pathologic changes of cystic hydatidosis, which demonstrated a great value in assessment of cystic hydatidosis in the liver.
