Abstract:Objective To discuss the clinical application of integral grading to evaluate infant hip joint development by ultrasound. Methods The comprehensive evaluation method of hip joint development was designed using the key techniques of Graf,Morin and hip joint bony roof ratio method .The alpha Angle, Bone margin morphology and acetabular osseous fossa, the iliac baseline to the femoral head, and the corresponding position between the apex of the acetabular glenoid labium and acetabular roof were taken as the scoring parameters. Assessment of the hip joint in infants with the following grading methods and criteria: Grade 1, mature hip, 0-1 points; Grade 2, mild dysplastic hip, 2-4 points; Grade 3, severely dysplastic hip,5-8 points; Grade 4, dislocated hip, 9 ~ 12 points. By evaluating the hip joint of various types, the results of Integral Grading Ultrasound Method with the comprehensive evaluation of multiple methods were analyzed. .Results 3614 cases of infant hip joint were examined by Ultrasonography, and the results of comprehensive evaluation showed that 2578 cases were mature hip joint, 911 cases weremild dysplasia hip joint, 77 cases were severe dysplasia hip joint, and 48 cases were dislocation hip joint. The comprehensive evaluation results were all in conformity with the results of Integral Grading Ultrasound. Conclusions Evaluation of infant hip joint by Integral Grading Ultrasound was more comprehensive, objective and a reliable method, which is less affected by subjective factors of operators. It could avoid or reduce the error prone to the single measurement method. The Integral Grading Ultrasound method could be used as an auxiliary means for single item examination such as Graf method.
