The decrease of vascular elasticity is a marker of early vascular damage, which can be used as an indicator of clinical evaluation of cardiovascular diseases and predict the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases. As a window for ultrasonic examination of arterial elasticity, carotid ultrasound has been used in clinical evaluation of early vascular lesions. The status and progress in ultrasound evaluation of carotid artery elasticity were reviewed in this article.
