Abstract:Objective To evaluate virtual touch tissue imaging quantification(VTIQ) for differentiating benign and malignant breast nodules. Methods patients with pathologically proven malignant(18) and benign(28) breast nodules underwent VTIQ examinations.Shear wave velocities(SWVs) of benign and malignant nodules and surrounding tissues were measured. The receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC)was analyzed to assess the value of VTIQ in differentiating benign and malignant nodules. Results The SWVs between benign nodules and malignant nodules were significantly different(p<0.05). The mean ratio of SWV were also significantly different(p<0.05). Comparison of benign and malignant nodules, The AUC was 0.875 and the SWV cut-off value was 4.52m/s,the accuracy was 84.80%,sensitivity was 88.89% ,specificity was 82.14%,respectively. Comparison of the mean ratio, The AUC was 0.902 and the SWV cut-off value was 1.25,the accuracy was 84.80%,sensitivity was 94.44% ,specificity was 78.57%, respectively. respectively. There was no statistical difference between the two methods in terms of AUC (P>0.05). Conclusion VTIQ is valuable in differentiating benign from malignant breast nodules. It can provide reference for clinical diagnosis.
