Abstract:Objective To evaluate left atrial?systolic function in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) by tracking of mitral annular displacement technology (TMAD)and two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiongraphy(2D-STE),the differences of the two methods were compared. Methods 30 patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) and 30 normal controls were selected for conventional ultrasound measurement ;TMAD was applied to obtain the time-displacement curve to obtain the left ventricular systolic mitral annular displacement (TMAD-D) and left atrial systolic displacement (TMAD-S);2D-STE was applied to obtain the left atrial time-strain rate curve, the mean value of the peak strain rate of left ventricular systolic, early and late diastolic of left atrium(mSRs, mSRe, mSRa)were recorded, comparing TMAD and 2D-STE parameters. Results 1.Compared with the control group, the LAD of PAF group was increased, while mSRs, mSRe, mSRa, TMAD-D and TMAD-S were decreased (all P<0.05);2.The area under ROC curves of TMAD-D and mSRs is 0.867 and 0.944 respectively,The area under ROC curves of TMAD-S and mSRa is 0.808 and 0.850 respectively.3.TMAD is significantly shorter than 2D-STE (P<0.05).4.Repeatability test: the intra-observer correlation coefficients of TMAD-D and TMAD-S mean were 0.964 and 0.888, and the inter-observer correlation coefficients were 0.918 and 0.860, respectively. Conclusion Both TMAD and 2D-STE can detect the changes of left atrial systolic function in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. However, TMAD is more convenient and feasible.
